The Beaver – Beaver is patient, has great stamina, can stay under water for up to 15 minutes and have waterproof oil that protects their fur. Beaver’s nimble paws hold food as well as carry materials for its home and their hind legs have webbed feet which enable them to swim at high speeds while using their large flat tail as a rudder. Beaver’s extremely sharp teeth cuts through the toughest of tree bark. Beaver is the builder and doer of the animal kingdom. They are hard workers who dam rivers to create ponds and lakes for the benefit of all.

Beaver people are hard workers who believe in teamwork and community.  They put ideas into action and transform the environment to provide for their own as well as others’ security and comfort. They often succeed against great odds as they are adaptable, creative, and are quick to learn. Beaver people have flair and a sense of beauty for artistic and aesthetic things. They experience the world mostly through their physical sensations such as touching, hearing, seeing and smelling. Beaver people can often “engineer” events to suit themselves – often to the point of reorganizing the lives of those around them to improve the conditions for all concerned.

Beaver is always busy improving their home and working conditions. They need security and stability in their environments in order to build, manifest or work toward their dreams. They enjoy teamwork, a sense of community and harmonious relationships. Beaver people have alternate entrances and escapes, in other words, they can see and use many ways to solve problems. Beaver people are reliable, practical, methodical, home loving, peaceful, harmonious, and they persevere. If they are not in peaceful surroundings they can become irritable, high strung and prone to digestive problems. Beaver people are also very protective of those they love as well as the things they possess. They will protect and defend their own creations and achievements with tenacity.

When young, Beaver people are often stubborn and possessive but have good concentration which allows them to progress steadily as they mature. As an adult, Beaver people are more considerate, tolerant, understanding, affectionate though they can be somewhat demanding and conservative. Often they are quite rigid in their viewpoint – only seeing things in black and white. Beaver people are charming, responsive but not aggressive, somewhat introverted, sensual, exciting, loyal, devoted and stable in intimate relationships. They need assurance and a sense of security otherwise they become jealous and nervous.

Positive traits: Practical, reliable, patient, business-like, persistent, determined, strong-willed, affectionate.

Negative traits: Possessive, lazy, self-indulgent, inflexible, stubborn, resentful, judgmental.

Vocations: Architects, agriculture, business and commerce, cooking, entertaining, housekeeping, investment, mining, music, military, property/real estate, natural sciences, theatre, sculpting or writing.

Aims, desires and challenges. Beaver people need to learn to let go of the earthy and material things and concentrate more on the spiritual. Possessiveness and attachment to people and things will only hold them back. They need to become more flexible and adaptable. Building a solid foundation helps them to understand and be more compassionate to others. Beaver people desire freedom from attachments and want to manifest and manage their dreams.

Season of the Beaver – Spring. Spring is the time of awakening, new life, growth, rebirth, ideas and manifestation. The seed that is planted needs watering and nurturing from the Earth in order to grow, so do people, as they need the socialization, affection and assistance of others. People of this time have an affinity for Nature.

Direction of the Beaver - East. Your spiritual path is one of strength and intellectual growth. You need to learn to share with others and communicate more clearly. You can turn dreams into practical realities with persistence and determination. Look before you leap, consider the long-term consequences of your actions. Learn to see the details as well as the overall picture. Recognize your opportunities to soar above challenges, it may be a spiritual test.

Animal Totem of the East – Eagle. Eagle represents “Spirit”. Eagle can see great distances and recognizes the connection and balance between Spirit and Earth. They see that a state of grace can be achieved through hard work, understanding and completion of tests to claim our personal power. The highs and lows of life are the trials to earn Eagle’s medicine. Learn to identify opportunities, attack your fear of the unknown. Feed your body but more importantly feed your soul.

Polarity Totem Animal – Snake. Snake stands for transformation as well as the cycle of life. Beaver people need to be more like snake and learn to eliminate the nonessentials and materialism. They need to learn that sharing with others brings fulfillment. Snake wants to understand the mysteries of life and discover deeper realities. Snake people accept all aspects of their life and use their energy to create passion, desire, physical vitality, ambition, creation, resolution and dreams. Beavers need to concentrate more on the spiritual for wisdom, understanding, wholeness and a sense of connection to the Great Spirit.

Clan Totem – Turtle. Turtle is the symbol of Mother Earth. Ground yourself – develop ideas before presenting them. Honor the creative source within you. See the beauty and gentleness that exists in everyone and everything. Stability, persistence and tenaciousness are yours though progress is slow and careful. Guard against stubbornness and inflexibility. Be aware of new opportunities, awaken your primal senses.

Element of Beaver – Earth with Fire. Earth represents the physical. It is associated with productivity, fertility, growth and regeneration. A person born under the influence of Earth is someone who is instinctively driven by a need to plan and strategize and who will not change their decision on a course of action. Often misunderstood and underestimated by others but who is resourceful even when they are most afraid, and compelled to take action. They are the warriors and hunters, challengers to injustice. Earth signs require participation and need to interact with others, otherwise their planning and strategizing natures are unfulfilled. Fire purifies as it burns and destroys the old so that the new may emerge. It is transmutation and regeneration. A person born under the influence of Fire is someone who is instinctively driven by passion and emotion, sometimes to the point where they cannot stop intense moments of uncontrollable passion. To expect them to behave differently would be like trying to stem the flow of an erupting volcano. They can harness their energy in positive ways by applying it to creative and challenging situations and inspiring others to action. They are often their own worst enemies as they are self-critical to the point of damage and needs approval, understanding and positive attention from those around them.

Mineral Totem – Jasper and Bloodstone. Jasper wants to rectify injustice, gives insight into developing situations and problems, it calms the emotions, aids in dream recall and stimulates the base chakras while cleansing and stabilizing the aura. In healing, Jasper strengthen and detoxifies the circulatory and digestive systems, sexual organs, blood, liver and helps to dissolve blockages in the kidneys. Bloodstone is the stone of courage, it balances the body in times of stress, heightens intuition and creativity, stimulates dreaming, revitalizes, encourages flexibility, selflessness, idealism, enhances decision making and calms the mind.

Plant Totem – Wild Clover. (Shamrock) Clover provides healing for the earth, animal kingdom and humans. It removes constipation, increases appetite, stimulates the liver and gall bladder, calms stress, provides support and sustenance. It will sweeten the lives of others and bring luck in new endeavors. Clover stands for protection, money, love, fidelity, and success. If you find a 2 leaf clover it means you will find a lover, if you find a 3 leaf clover it will give you protection, if you find a 4 leaf clover it brings good luck and money and if you find a 5 leaf clover it attract money. Clover also enhances positive energies, psychic development and intuition.

Affinity Color of the Beaver – Yellow.

Path to self-realization is through gratitude.

Primary spiritual goal is creativity and individualism.

Positive traits: focus, inspiration, inventiveness, strength, courage, individuality

Negative traits: pride, rebellion, alienation, shame, humiliation
