The Salmon – Salmon is the king of fish. Salmon uses his guiding and navigational skills to swim upstream against the current. He leaps up waterfalls that can be over 10 ft high and swims in both salt and fresh water. The salmon’s cousin – the sturgeon – has a tough skin, armored scales and lives to a ripe old age. Salmon people swim in the waters of inspiration and foreknowledge. They have a strength of purpose and wisdom. They are adaptable, enjoy longevity and grow old gracefully. Learning to swim through life gracefully and cause no ripple or disturbance is Salmon’s life goal. Salmon people must return to their place of creation through determination, instinct, with a sense of purpose and to finish what they began. Confident, proud, energetic Salmon want to run things their way (even other people’s lives) but when they have problems of their own, they can’t fix them. They must learn to master their emotions and to go through life without causing disturbances to others and build a resistance to emotional hurts. Often the way to healing is through forgiveness, ancestral lineage and past life recall. Salmon can be uncompromising, opinionated and can dig into a problem or situation with fervor and conviction but may change views quickly. They thirst for personal glory and attention. Salmon people are self-assertive, emotionally vulnerable, and are hurt by neglect and withdrawal of love. They have a hard time making sound judgments due to ego. They are often dramatic and blow things out of proportion. On the other hand, Salmon people can be optimistic, creative, loyal but vulnerable to flattery and deceit. When confronted with heartache they become fatalistic and despondent. Salmon children desire to be the center of attention. They are playful and jolly when getting their own way (maybe even spoiled), but they need to learn to respect others as well as self. They are quick to learn but lazy – they need to be challenged and prodded. As adults, Salmon people can be overbearing, authoritarian, theatrically emotional, frenzied, passionate and sexually energetic. They need constant love, affection and attention but are also warm, intense, loving, charming, enjoy family life and will tackle endeavors with enthusiasm.
Salmon needs a sense of purpose, to
finish what they begin and to come full circle for closure. When gathering
wisdom, they must trust their gut instinct and avoid the hidden agendas of
others. Wisdom is only gained through both the easy and difficult situations of
their experiences. Look to each bend in the river as a new adventure and as a
way to gain the lessons needed to grow. Negative traits: Domineering, arrogant, vain, immodest, dogmatic, intolerant, pompous Vocations: Arts and entertainment, administrative work, public relations, psychology, politics, journalism and newspaper work, military, theology. Aims, desires and challenges. Salmon needs to learn to be more balanced, to flow gracefully through life and not cause ripples, to heal emotional hurts and get past traumas without losing their compassion, warm-heartedness and love for others and self. They need to learn tolerance, use sound judgment, to avoid arrogance, pomposity, egotism and indolence. Salmon people need to find emotional stability, individuality while still blending with others and to stand out without creating problems and waves for others. They need to find their purpose and apply their talents and determination to shine without ego. Season of the Salmon – Summer. Summer is the time that things begin to bear fruit.
